No outdoor place for gym classes, no home for intramural sports and their options were limited. Their location was land-locked making it impossible to build new facilities and fields, programming and maintenance demands on their fields was becoming a large concern.
Increased Programming Opportunities with Programmed Lighting
Football Fields Bear Less Maintenance
In the end, the Board decided to enhance Red Grange Football Field, soccer and lacrosse fields, and renovate the track to support a wealth of programming opportunities with well-lit facilities for many athletes and students. At the same time, Wheaton North was renovating their athletic fields and much of the same work was completed there.
TWG was hired to provide the sports lighting of the fields and together our team worked closely with the District and Parent Associations/Booster Clubs to make recommendations for the design of these fields. Our experience and understanding of specifications and standards of sports lighting requirements, including lighting loads, pole weight, variable wind speeds, local soil conditions and a host of other variables assisted the team with safety guidelines that will perform for decades. The benefits of these projects provided high uniformity illuminations that contribute to excellent visibility and safety for the facilities while offering significant savings in operating and maintenance costs.
