Overview:
For nearly three decades, The Will Group (TWG) has supported the Illinois Tollway with land acquisition services for high-impact infrastructure initiatives. From the I-355 south extension to the Elgin-O’Hare Expansion and I-57/I-294 reconstruction, TWG has led surveying, GIS management, and acquisition coordination to facilitate right-of-way access and timely project delivery.
What We Delivered:
– Survey & Mapping: Developed right-of-way plats, plats of easements, and legal descriptions for multiple Tollway corridors.
– GIS Integration: Utilized GIS tools to track parcels, streamline coordination, and enhance transparency in acquisition tracking.
– Project Oversight: Managed appraisers, negotiators, and acquisition specialists during a 10-year project management role for Land Acquisition – I-11-4029.
– Cross-Agency Coordination: Supported major efforts like the O’Hare Western Bypass by aligning deliverables with Tollway priorities and state transportation goals.
Results:
TWG’s expertise streamlined land acquisition across complex projects, using GIS mapping and coordinated fieldwork to reduce delays, ensure compliance, and support the Illinois Tollway’s infrastructure goals.
Project Tasks have included the preparation of route survey right-of-way plats, plats of easements and legal description as well as the robust use of GIS to manage the land acquisition efforts. Representative projects include the I-355 south extension, Elgin-O’Hare Expansion, O’Hare Western Bypass, and the reconstruction of I-57 and I-294. Our team managed the appraisers, negotiators, and land acquisition specialists in addition to leading the surveying and GIS efforts.
