Scroll to learn moreThe Takoma Park City Council unanimously to replace all of its traditional streetlights with high-efficiency LED fixtures. Our team worked with the municipal smart streetlight program to locate all streetlights in the assigned municipality.
A night audit was even performed to verify the light source and distribution pattern. Team members recorded data for each fixture to determine the appropriate wattage and distribution pattern for a replacement LED fixture. In addition, the team coordinated with the electrical contractor to ensure the designed bill of material was installed at each location. All while collecting data of the installed bill of material, and managing the smart nodes. After completing the audit, TWG led the commissioning of the smart nodes by providing a Field Technician to warehouse the nodes and follow along with the install crews to each fixture.
Results: The TWG survey team was given 1,563 pole locations with streetlights in Takoma park from Pepco’s database. These 1,563 locations were imported into the TWG application to complete a municipal wide lighting survey. While completing this lighting survey, the field team found 152 new pole locations with street lights. 171 of the 1,563 imported pole locations did not have any streetlights. In total, the survey team found 1,544 poles with a streetlight(s). 1,524 locations were found to have one street light and 20 locations were found to have two fixtures. In total, 1,564 streetlights were counted in Takoma Park.
Verification of Light Source: Performed a night audit to verify light sources and functionality.
Efficiency: 60-80 lights per day, per auditor collected maximizing cost efficiency.
